How do I export a chat?
  1. In WhatsApp, open the chat you want to export.
  2. Tap the chat name or the three-dot menu → More → Export chat.
  3. Without Media creates a .txt file. Include Media creates a .zip file.
  4. Drop that file onto this area.

Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. All parsing and rendering happens in your browser; your .txt or .zip files are never sent to any server.
Which exports do you support?
Both Android and iOS WhatsApp exports work. Plain text (.txt) and media-rich (.zip) exports are both supported.
Can I view photos, videos and voice notes?
Yes. Photos, videos, stickers and voice messages from a .zip export render properly inside chat bubbles and can be browsed in the built-in gallery.
Are deleted messages shown?
Messages marked as “This message was deleted” in the export are rendered as-is with a ban icon and italic muted-gray styling.
Does it work offline?
After the page is loaded once, all chat-viewing happens locally and works offline. The initial load only requires static assets like FontAwesome icons.
Is it open source? Is it free?
Yes. WhatsApp Chat Viewer is open source and free to use. Feedback and contributions are very welcome.
